Interested in Civil War history, a soldiers perspective, or honoring your ancestors? Would you like to walk in the shoes of a Civil War soldier? Learn what it was like to, drill, live the camp life, and re-enact battles. The Fourth is always looking for new recruits and this may be what you have been waiting for.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, please contact us. As far as equipment goes, we have a supply of loaner gear that may be borrowed for the first few events. This timeframe is usually the first season. Of course with time you will accumulate the required gear. We urge anyone interested in joining to first borrow to see if this is truly what you want. After you have established that this is what you want, we will help you by directing you to sutlers (stores that sell merchandise) that we deem correct in authenticity.
Dues: As of 2011, we DO NOT have any unit dues. At the beginning of 2011 we joined the MCWRA which provides insurance for re-enactors. The dues for this will be $10 per year (unless otherwise noted).
Powder/ caps: Our unit has established that members roll their own cartridges and supply their own caps and powder for events. As a new member, we will help you in getting this accomplished. This may change in the future.
Probationary period: As a new member, you will be under a probationary period. We will help you in any way possible to attain what you want out of reenacting. This probationary period last for one season of reenacting ( 6 - 12 months). This depends on when you decide to start. During, or at the end of the probationary period, we will decide what your membership status will become.
Meetings: We have a year end meeting usually after the holidays. We also meet numerous times throughout the season. Most of these meeting are done at events that we have a majority of members at. If need be, we will have more meetings during the year at designated times.
